On 19 January 2026, THCS took part in the second edition of the HaDEA Showcase Event, held at the Charlemagne Congress Centre in Brussels. Organised by the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA), the event showcased EU-funded projects and synergies across HaDEA’s portfolio in the context of key EU policy initiatives, including the Competitiveness Compass and the EU Preparedness Union Strategy.
THCS’s participation was twofold: its Coordinator, Dr Giusi Condorelli, was invited to intervene in the second thematic panel, and the Partnership was also present in the Innovation Village with a dedicated stand, where it presented THCS’s objectives, ongoing activities and role to conference participants.
The event featured a rich programme, including high-level keynote speeches, a plenary session and three thematic panels.
In her opening address, Marina Zanchi, Director of HaDEA, underscored the Agency’s strategic role in translating EU political priorities into concrete action. She highlighted the complementary contributions of Horizon Europe, Digital Europe, CEF Digital and EU4Health, each addressing distinct yet interconnected dimensions of Europe’s competitiveness and preparedness.
During the plenary session, which brought together Deputy Directors from DG SANTE, HERA, DEFIS, CONNECT, RTD and GROW, speakers recalled how the COVID-19 pandemic and the current geopolitical context have exposed critical dependencies and vulnerabilities. These developments have elevated resilience, strategic autonomy and rapid implementation to key EU priorities, highlighting the need for a coordinated, cross-sectoral approach spanning the digital, industrial, space, health and R&I domains.
Across the three panels, speakers and testimonials consistently emphasised that Europe’s competitiveness, preparedness and resilience increasingly depend on interoperable and scalable infrastructures across the digital, industrial, space and health sectors. From a health perspective, the European Health Data Space (EHDS) was identified as a pivotal enabler at the intersection of innovation, resilience and citizens’ trust, empowering individuals while supporting research and evidence-based policymaking through the secure secondary use of health data.
