On 20th June 2023, the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) took center stage in Rome as it organized a highly anticipated event, "Synergies across the EU funding programmes." This collaborative initiative brought together various networks, including Horizon Europe National Contact Points for Cluster 1 and Cluster 4, as well as the EU4Health National Focal Points. The event aimed to promote European funding programmes implemented by HaDEA, fostering synergistic actions among stakeholders at the European level. The Italian National Institute of Health (ISS) graciously hosted the event in Rome.

The first session, focused on European experiences of synergies between Pprogrammes, involved representatives, from EU institutions successfully active in the field of European funds. The second, focusing on the European networks of national contact points of the various Programmes, dealt with the objectives and tools of these networks to support the implementation of programmes in the national and local levels.

As outlined at the beginning by its Director General Marina Zanchi, the European Health and Digital Executive Agency recognizes the power of collaboration and aims to harness it for the betterment of European health and digital initiatives. By bringing together networks from Horizon Europe, EU4Health, and Digital Europe, HaDEA seeks to stimulate cooperation and coordination across these key sectors. This event served as a platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas, forge partnerships, and explore opportunities for joint projects that will drive progress in health, digital innovation, and more.

To highlight the impact of participation in European processes through practical examples of success in the management of European Projects in synergy with other Programmes were then presented some examples of initiatives such as: the Project Mistral, the project “Arise”, the project “AIREGIO 5.0 and the project DOME”.

The event benefited also from the participation of Horizon Europe National Contact Points for Cluster 1 (HNN 3) and Cluster 4 (COSMOS, IDEAL-IST, NCP4INDUSTRY). These networks play a crucial role in facilitating connections between researchers, innovators, and funding opportunities within the health and digital industry domains. By collaborating with HaDEA, they contribute to the advancement of cutting-edge projects and initiatives that address societal challenges, promote breakthroughs in healthcare, and drive innovation in digital technology and space-related activities.

The network of EU4Health National Focal Points (JA NFP4Health) also participates in this event. By engaging with the HaDEA initiative, the EU4Health National Focal Points foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among stakeholders in the health sector. This collective effort aims to enhance the effectiveness and impact of European health initiatives while ensuring the highest standards of care and access to quality healthcare services for all citizens.

The "Synergies across the EU Funding Programmes" event has been a significant milestone in promoting European health and digital initiatives. By bringing together key stakeholders, the event was a great opportunity to foster collaboration, encourage knowledge sharing, and open up new avenues for joint projects and funding opportunities.

The event was indeed the occasion to stress the concept that the use of European funds, with a view to maximising their cross-sectoral impacts, can be planned, and implemented with a view to complementarity between policies, institutions, and disciplines.

This collective effort will undoubtedly propel Europe's health and digital sectors towards innovation, growth, and improved outcomes for its citizens.
