The Advisory Board of the THCS Partnership, which includes experts and stakeholders from both EU and international levels, has appointed Dr. Maddalena Illario and Prof. Joanna Lane as its co-chairs.
In this role, they will guide the board’s efforts with a focus on:
- Facilitating the Science to Policy Dialogue
- Translating research findings into innovative solutions and actionable implementations
- Identifying synergies and collaborations with key EU and international initiatives
- Ensuring effective monitoring and evaluation of the Partnership’s performance, with insights on key strategic deliverables.
Co-Chairs Bios
Prof. Joanna Lane is the Managing Director at Stichting HCN, a social foundation in Amsterdam that collaborates with quadruple helix stakeholders to enhance value creation in health ecosystems. She is also a professor at the Centre for Health and Technology at the University of South-Eastern Norway. Additionally, Prof. Lane serves as the Chairperson of the FH Europe Foundation, a patient network dedicated to improving awareness, understanding, and access to diagnosis and treatment for inherited lipid conditions across Europe. Her previous roles include Special Professor of Health & Public Policy at the University of Nottingham, Lay Court Member at Edinburgh Napier University, Managing Director of CCL Associates, Director of Research & Evaluation at the Health Education Board for Scotland, and Visiting Professor at the University of York.
Dr. Maddalena Illario, MD, PhD, is an endocrinologist and Associate Professor at the Department of Public Health, Federico II University. She also serves as the Coordinator of the Health Innovation Unit for Chronic Disease at Federico II Hospital and is the current Chair of the European Reference Site Collaborative Network. From December 2016 to July 2020, she was the Coordinator for the Campania Region Division for Health Innovation. Dr. Illario has participated in over ten European projects focused on the digital transformation of health and care, including mHealth Hub, Vigour, HS-Monitor, RADAR, and NewEcoSmart. She is the national referent for the Cost Action CA19136 - International Interdisciplinary Network on Smart Healthy Age-friendly Environments, where she also acts as the Scientific Communication Manager. Additionally, she was the Coordinator of A3 for the Action Group on Prevention of Frailty and Functional Decline within the European Partnership on Active and Healthy Aging from May 2015 to December 2020, and served as a Promoter for the group. Since 2013, she has been leading the Campania Reference Site for Lifecourse Active and Healthy Ageing, which was awarded 4 stars in 2022.
